Our vegetarian version of this spicy rice from Bukhara, with carrots and chickpeas.

Chilled, cooked product – reheat from chilled


  • Put the rice in a microwave safe dish and add 2 tablespoons of water per cup of rice
  • Cover with cling film and microwave until product is piping hot. All microwaves vary so heat for 60 seconds on full power, stir and check. Repeat as necessary
  • CAUTION - Be careful of steam when removing cling film
  • Stir the rice gently and serve

 Hob (bain-marie or water bath method)

  • Half fill a pan or saucepan with water and bring to the boil
  • Choose a metal or ceramic bowl that sits comfortably in the sauce pan – the bowl should rest against the rim of the pan so the base doesn’t touch the bottom
  • Place the rice into the bowl and cover tightly
  • Simmer for 5 minutes, stir and check
  • Repeat until the rice is piping hot and serve immediately
